TESSIER Charles (1802-1871)
Ch. Tessier "Armenia" 13 prints in etching of 1842, "Mount Ararat (2), Ani (8), Bayazid (2) and Baibouth (1)", printed by Lemercier, sheets: 31 x 44 cm (3 ) and 36 x 56 cm (9). 9 reproduced in Boghossian I and II. Explorer, architect, archaeologist, French painter and academician, he explored Asia Minor in 1836 and 1837. By order of the French government, he painted cities, cathedrals, mosques and palaces of Armenia, Persia and Mesopotamia. These washes were reproduced in engravings (by Lemaitre) in 1842: "The monuments of medieval Armenia were completely unknown, even we can say that this important branch of art history was not only suspected . I would say the same of the modern Persian art, both in terms of their religious constructions as that of their civil architecture. " Ch. Tessier 220 à 330 CHF - 200 à 300 €
